Some research in California revealed that people lie up to 20 times a day – I’ve read. And I don’t think it concerns just the unpopular population of USA. Everybody and everywhere use a lie in they everyday life. And, being such a widespread it still remains very unpleasant, unpleased and offended part of our living.

But let us not to talk about these serous untruth which has its aim to harm, to hurt, to reach smth which is going to be no so good for victims. No – let us talk about - as it called – white lie, slight lie – “to help the day to run more smoothly” and which became a common tool, a common place in our time. Point me somebody who has never… I can predict there are person who would tell at this moment – never ever I have told a lie. And that would be the untruth here, isn’t it?

My mom fist made me feel lying. If I’d promised to come at 9 and actually did it half past 9 then I heard a phrase that confused me and shocked me (and still it is!) – why did you tell a lie to me, daughter? What’s the proprial answer here? I’ve learned not to announce the time of my arrival. For a thing which is not even depends on me I don’t want to be a liar.

There are a lot of lies have to do with a parents, from the very childhood and till the last words. What about – do you like this cute dress I’ve bought you? - is the soup, that I’ve been cooking all day long you’re the very favorite one, honey? At last – with whom and where you’re going to spend this night, girl? And do I know everything about your future husband? No, you don’t. I don’t want to hurt you sometimes. That’s the reason.

We don’t want to hurt intimacy and not so intimacy friends. School and university mates. Co-workers. Underemployers. Lovers. Husbands. We want some moment in their life pass smoothly. We decide – what make him think to still think good of you. The only disadvantages of such a care and wise behavior is that all this people offend immediately and hard as soon as they know you dared to lie (!) to them.
Is it really lie or just a half-truth here is doesn’t matter they say.
I admit it here. I would be incredibly offended too.

But. Just try. Try to live one single day. Without any tiny word of a ‘little bit untruth’ or even holding back. That’s going destroy not only your day – for you to believe me.
Because – as the Times says – “these are mostly considered harmless social lubricants”.
